What can we expect at the conference?

The conference theme is Mapping Financial Resilience, and it is open to anyone in community-leadership positions interested in learning how to help others better their financial situations. We have a line-up of incredible speakers and organizations from across Canada ready to share their insights and resources. Our goal is to equip attendees with the knowledge, resources, and connections to become financial education champions in their communities. By sharing what you've learned in this action-packed day, you'll be empowered to support your community’s financial well-being and create lasting, positive change.

Are there Hotel Accommodations?

Yes! The Conference Service Manager at the Best Western Truro will hold a block of 30 rooms at the $159.00 government rate up to and including October 17, 2024 which is three weeks prior to the conference date. If you would like to use these accommodations, please use this link to book.

What’s for Lunch?

The community lunch will be a buffet style with a chef’s soup and salad, sandwiches and assorted pastries. The salad is Artisan Garden Greens with sunflower seeds, roasted pumpkin seeds, dried cranberries, fresh vegetables and balsamic vinaigrette. Sandwiches include:

  • Egg Salad | grain mustard, red onion, chopped chives, paprika, lentil vermicelli, julienne lettuce on multigrain bread

  • Tuna and Avocado Salad | celery, green onion, pickle, relish, guacamole, green leaf lettuce

  • Roasted Chicken Wrap | tandoori chickpea puree, feta cheese, spinach, roasted onion

  • Turkey Club | tomato, green leaf, cheddar, onion aioli, bacon on ciabatta buns

  • Roasted Vegetable | red pepper, carrot, red onion, zucchini, eggplant, Jarlsberg cheese, spinach & artichoke spread on quinoa bread

  • Italian Cold Cuts | roasted red pepper, Jarlsberg cheese

What is the Dress Code?

Please wear what you feel is appropriate for you! However, many of you know that at Money Path, we believe financial journeys are much like going on a hike. To celebrate this theme, we invite everyone to embrace the spirit of the trail by wearing your favourite, comfortable hiking-friendly attire. Whether it’s your trusty hiking boots, a well-loved flannel, or your cosiest outdoor socks, we are excited to see your gear! We know many of you are traveling from afar, so why not leave the dress pants behind and enjoy the conference in some on-theme fashion?

9:30 a.m. | Keynote Speaker Aseel El-Baba presents Strategies to Help Build Financial Resilience

Join Aseel El-Baba for an insightful discussion on the behavioural and emotional patterns that often lead to self-sabotage in personal finance. El-Baba will share compelling stories, case studies, and practical tools for incorporating trauma-informed approaches into money education. Attendees will also receive a workbook to help apply these concepts in their communities.

Aseel El-Baba is the first renowned Financial Therapist and Mental Health Expert in Toronto.

Her journey started with over ten years of robust experience in the heart of Canada's financial industry on Bay Street. She specialized in financial planning and had a proven track record in managing portfolios with assets exceeding $100 million.

Adept in the complexities of wealth management, Aseel identified the gap in the industry and pivoted to mental health having completed a comprehensive five-year psychotherapy program.

Aseel approaches financial challenges through a comprehensive, trauma-informed lens that encompasses emotional, psychological, behavioral, and relational dimensions. Her work is driven by the conviction that financial health is inextricably linked to mental and emotional well-being. Keith Taylor, Executive Director DUCA Impact Lab, shares how they help Canadians break free of the Payday loan trap and better manage personal finances and debt obligations. The DUCA Impact Lab is a registered charity established by the DUCA Financial Services Credit Union Ltd. The mission is to bring better banking to all, including helping individuals break free from predatory lenders.
